Ophthalmologist and Surgeon, Specializing in Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Detachments
Dr. Karl Waite is a board-certified ophthalmologist and surgeon, skilled in treating an array of eye conditions ranging from glaucoma and cataracts, to diabetic retinopathy and macular edema.
Born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, Dr. Waite graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He remained at South Florida, where he began research in the field of ophthalmology and vitreo-retinal disease, which includes conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. He obtained his doctorate from the College of Medicine.
Dr. Waite began his surgical career with the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida, and continued his ophthalmology training with Nassau University Medical Center. At the State University of New York at Stonybrook, New York, he improved and restored vision to countless patients using delicate surgical techniques. Prior to joining the Retina Institute, Dr. Waite served as the Chief Resident of the Nassau University Medical Center.
Growing up boating and fishing with his family in Daytona Beach, Dr. Waite has an affinity for water sports. He spends most weekends on the beach kite boarding or enjoying the surf.
